Making fitness part of your lifestyle

The beginning of new year is right is so close, it’s time to hit the reset button. I encouraged myself do do it two months ago. I have taken a two years break from fitness and I cannot reflect any achievements but I am definitely proud of how much work I have done over the last two months and I can only be excited for the upcoming next year. I think the best way to set yourself up for success is to commit to starting (or continuing!) a habit that will simply lead to feeling good. Fitness plays a big part of my lifestyle as it is not only something that I enjoy doing for no reason but it also helps my health a lot.

I have experimented with different fitness exercise styles, from running, lifting, HIIT, CrossFit, Callisthenics, Cardio, Yoga, Dancing. I think it’s incredibly important to try out different ways of working out to see what sticks with you and what you would truly enjoy doing several times a week. Exercise should be enjoyable and challenging in a good and exciting way, and it is definitely not something you should be extremely disliking. If you feel like you have to push yourself mentally to go for a workout every time beforehand then it’s time to consider trying something else. This might take a while before you find what you truly enjoy but it’s definitely worth a go.

“My training regime doesn’t fit into a label, and I like it like that.”

I am the type of person who enjoys doing different types of workouts throughout the week. I would mix up HIIT classes, boxing, lifting and a bit of cardio to  challenge myself in different ways and to keep me excited for the workouts ahead. I love learning new types of exercises that causes muscle burning in areas I’ve never felt before. My training regime doesn’t fit into a label, and I like it like that.

“Mix it up and find what you love, because ultimately it is enjoyment that leads to sustainability.”

When choosing your way of exercising it is extremely necessary to learn the technique and practise it over and over again, until you know that you’ve nailed it. Without a good technique you will hardly see any results and over on top of that it could lead you to injuries when performing an exercise wrong. Once you’ve learned the right way of doing your exercise I can assure that you will feel excited for what it will do to your body in the upcoming months.
Don’t put yourself in a box in terms of fitness. Find your personal balance when it comes to training. Run. Use your bodyweight. Lift some iron. Mix it up and find what you love, because ultimately it is enjoyment that leads to sustainability.
